In Sarah Messer’s workshop you will learn how to incorporate some of the many elements that together form a lyric essay – a hybrid mix of poetry, essay, memoir, etc. During this exciting four-week course you will explore ways to look at your own writing style through the challenging filter of these combined elements and learn how to reshape them into a uniquely structured creative piece.
Just this, in an email from our teacher: As always, your second essay is due on Friday by midnight. If you are working on a longer piece, or want to revise and expand the essay from last week, that is fine too!
ReplyDeleteI recommend if stuck to imitate a form.
Thanks Rebecca.
ReplyDeleteHi all, Yes! You can imitate one of the forms or one of the essays (ie content -- write something about lungs and breathing instead of the heart? Write from the point of view of trekking up a mountain instead of diving down? Write your own version of cooking/recipe? This weeks themes are a bit far flung...I picked them because they weren't all personal, weren't all narrative. Looking forward!
